Kansas City Lee's Summit Regional Airport, 2740 NE Hagan Road, renamed from Lee's Summit Municipal, runs a 5,501 foot runway and opened Hangar 2, 46,000 square feet, on 13 November 2025. Be clear about scale: the entire airport function is 12.60 city full-time equivalents. Its value to a local business is business-aviation access and the school district's aerospace pipeline, not a payroll.
Lee's Summit is not a freight cluster, which is the common assumption. The federal carrier registry lists roughly 880 records in these ZIP codes, but only about 330 are active and they run about 1,400 power units between them, with the largest active fleet at 122 trucks. There are real distribution facilities here, including Mid-States Distributing on SE Thompson Drive, but the sector is a handful of large buildings rather than a base of carriers.
